Living in Deep Ellum

Friday, December 07, 2007

Deep Ellum has been a distinct neighborhood in Dallas for a long time.  The area got its start in the late 1800’s and has been the home of manufacturing and automotive industries in the city.  Today, Deep Ellum is an arts and entertainment district, located in the heart of the city.  The Downtown District lies right next door to Deep Ellum and there are several other popular destinations nearby.

Deep Ellum has long been known as the destination in Dallas for live music.  There are many different venues in the neighborhood, from blues to punk.  You’ll find any kind of entertainment you might want here, as well.  From dance clubs to blues bars, you won’t hurt for entertainment in Deep Ellum.

One of the most popular aspects of the neighborhood is the wide availability of loft space for apartments, clubs and studios.  Due to the areas past as a manufacturing center and warehousing area, lofts and empty warehouses are plentiful.  These have attracted a large art crowd in the area and the number of local art galleries is truly staggering.

Deep Ellum has a truly unique character.  Deep in the heart of Dallas, you’ll find open-air barbershops, live street music, tons of local festivals.  Music and art are everywhere in this neighborhood, filling the air, day and night, with local favorites and hit songs alike.  With the neighborhood’s vast diversity of art and entertainment, lofts for rent and clubs and bars, this is truly one of the best places to live, work and play within the city of Dallas.
